We arrived to the big sandy bay to a steady wind. I got out my 11 meter
kite and immediately had it flip inside out when launching. I finally
got it flying, and went kiteboarding. What a great change from kiting
in Cabarete this spring! Not a single other person in sight. No need to
worry what all the other people are going to do. I had fun over the next
few days, kiting every day, and moving mostly to my 9 meter Core kite.
I like it better, but it is on its last legs, with the seams blowing out.
When it gets wet it doesn’t seem to like to fly as well, and looses power.
If I continue this kiteboarding thing, I will need new kites at some
point. And a new bar possibly.
After kiting most days we sat around before getting out the wing foiling
gear. It is somewhat of an exhausting learning curve. We walk up the
beach, someone goes out and flops around before being blown to the
other end of the beach. The next person goes out after walking all the
way up the beach again and repeats the process. It is frustrating and
exhausting. At this point I am able to stand up on the board and get it
on to foil briefly before crashing. Crashing is mostly what happens.
I went fishing once and shot a fish that was not that tasty. It made ok tacos.
